Chlorine ConversionOur responsibility is to maintain your water system. The source and producer of your water, Manchester Water Works, has scheduled a planned conversion of the disinfectant chloramine used in their water treatment process to chlorine. This conversion is scheduled to begin May 18, 2026 on a temporary basis as they flush their water mains over a six-week period. During this time, you may notice a slight change in the taste and smell of your drinking water that has no harmful effects. Individuals and business owners who take special precautions to remove chloramines from tap water, such as dialysis centers, medical facilities and aquatic pet owners, should continue to take the same precautions during the temporary switch to chlorine. Most methods for removing chloramines from tap water are effective in removing chlorine. Individuals with special health concerns should consult a health care provider on the use of tap water.
We sent out a phone/text/email notification to customers in the chlorine conversion area. If you find that you are impacted but did not receive a notification, please call Pennichuck Customer Service to ensure that we have your most up-to-date contact information or fill out this form.
