Multiple Week Notifications: Are you in an area we have notified for flushing for multiple weeks? Be sure to check back on this page for updates on our map. We will update the progress of your area as we work our way through. Additionally, you will receive a notification from us via phone call, text, and/or email (if you have opted-in to receiving them) the Friday prior to when we begin in your specific area. In some cases, you may receive this notification multiple weeks in a row. This can be for many reasons, but our most common ones are delays due to weather, construction, emergency events, flushing in your area takes us some extra time, or you are located in a section of your area that is impacted by multiple hydrants. If you have not yet opted into receiving these notifications and would like to, please give us a call at 800-553-5191 or visit our form at pennichuck.com/general-information-for-our-water-customers/customer-contact-information/ to provide us with your preference.

As part of our ongoing maintenance program, Pennichuck completes a comprehensive flushing of the water mains, within different locations, based on your system’s schedule in My Water System.  This schedule is subject to change as weather conditions and length of flushing times may vary.

The schedule in My Water system is our projected schedule based on estimated completion times and optimal weather conditions. It will be updated regularly with any changes to this estimated schedule. It is important to refer to My Water System as the date of flushing in your area approaches to confirm that we will be in your area as projected.

Flushing is done to maintain water quality throughout the distribution system.

This program involves opening flushing valves to create increased water flows which dislodge and clean out naturally occurring sedimentation in the pipelines.

Minor flooding of streets, periods of low pressure and/or periods you may be without water could occur.

Colored water may result from the flushing so we recommend that you fill bottles with water for use during this time. If you experience colored water after the scheduled completion time, please run the cold water for 5 to 10 minutes to clear your service line. If your water does not clear up, or if you have concerns regarding flushing, please call Customer Service at 800-553-5191.

Please avoid washing clothes during the dates and times detailed in your system.

Daytime Flushing will occur Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Nighttime Flushing will occur Sunday through Thursday nights between the hours of 10:30 pm to 6:00 am.
