On October 14, 2016, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) and Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics announced that work will soon begin to connect 360 Litchfield homes to the Pennichuck public water system. Unless unforeseen early winter weather interferes, up to 173 of these homes are expected to be connected by the end of this year. The work on the remaining Litchfield homes will be completed in 2017; at the meeting, the NHDES will inform the remaining residents, as well as any of the 173 homes that are not able to be connected to public water by year-end, about the alternative measures that are going to be taken this year, and until they are fully connected to the public water system in the Spring and early Summer of 2017.
